Cambodia no lights but they love blogs

Blogging has begun to reach even those areas that have not evolved to be completely up to date as far as technological standards are concerned. The average Cambodian household still remains without electricity but that has not kept the bloggers from emerging. Even though Cambodia continues to be for the most part an underdeveloped country, the new trend of blogging has rapidly flourished amongst the youth and technologically savvy.
Bloggers are using their new outlet to express themselves through online diaries and discuss issues that plaque their country.
For a country that was only introduced to e-mail a little over ten years ago in 1994, they have quickly evolved to blogging as a favorite past time.

Kudos to you on the interesting article! I think that it is great for Cambodians to blog about the issues that are of concern to them, such as poverty and food scarcity. The article seemed to imply that blogging is a good medium for the youth to present their political agendas. I think using the blog as a political platform is a good way for local Cambodians to not only express their opinions, but to also get other people from around the world involved. I also couldn't help but note how the average cost for the internet is 50 cents, where as the average Cambodian in poverty only makes 45 cents. However, I think sacrificing a day's work is worth getting your voice getting heard and connecting to the rest of the world. Way to go Cambodia! :D

Your blog is great because it speaks to one of the Utopian visions of blogging. Because blogging gives everyone a chance for their opinions to be heard by the world it offers hope for the future of our planet. If we realized how similar we all are, no matter, race, religion, creed, or nation, it would give us a greater chance of getting along together. People dislike the unknown, they get scared and angry, these feelings combat the efforts of people to live together in peace and blogging gives us an opportunity to look at the world throughout the experiences of people that are there, be it Somalia, Iran, or Tibet.
